Add Borders

Outline boundaries, break a design into sections, or drive focus to added textimages, or videos by adding borders:

  1. Create or open an existing design.
  2. Click the Elements tab from the side panel.
  3. Click on the search bar, and input “borders.” Press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard to pull up the results.
  4. Click on a border to add it to your design. Premium ones are tagged with a $ or a . Access an extended library of premium elements with a Canva Pro or Canva for Enterprise subscription.

Use CMD+D (Mac) or CTRL+D (Windows) to duplicate a selected element.

To see more from a contributor, hover over an element from the editor side panel. Click the ••• icon that appears, and click View more by contributor below the element title.

To resize borders, click to select it, and drag any of the white circle handles on the edges in or out.

To change its color, click to select it, and click the color tile from the toolbar above the editor. Select any color from the suggestions, or click New color to use the color picker.

Note: Borders cannot hold photos. Use frames or grids instead.
